She muttered to herself, calluses on her fingertips running across the edge of the glass – the mark of 28 years of dialogue with glass. For us, the work is never a repetition of the assembly line, but the use of the temperature of the palm of the hand to heat the cold material, so that each piece of art glass becomes a physical expression of love. Embodiment of Love: From 0.1mm to 100% Paranoia During the 378 days of developing the enamelled art glass, the technical team repeatedly tested the coating formula to reduce the reflectivity by 0.1%. When the 187th experiment finally gave the glass surface a “soft diffuse reflection like moonlight,” engineer Kobayashi drew a big smiling face on the lab whiteboard – an achievement that excites us more than any KPI. What we love is this extreme attention to detail: the amount of paint dipped in the nib when painting the glass by hand, the perfect balance between the tempering furnace temperature curve and the stress of the glass… These “obsessions”, which are invisible to outsiders, constitute the soul of our works. When Love Meets Customers: Those Moments That Are Remembered In the renovation project of an old bungalow in Wutong District, Shanghai, China, we customized a doorway glass engraved with the family coat of arms for the customer. On the day of delivery, the 82-year-old gentleman stroked the totem of his grandfather’s surname on the glass, and suddenly his eyes were red:”My father studied glass craft in France, and he didn’t expect that there would be such works at home a hundred years later.” Such moments make us understand that the ultimate meaning of love is the vehicle for creating emotions.
